Why is it important to donate blood?
According to WHO, safe blood and blood products, as well as other transfusions, are crucial components of healthcare and public health. They help save millions of lives and improve the health and quality of life for patients every day. While blood is universally needed, ensuring its timely availability for those in need remains a challenge.
In 2021, the slogan for World Blood Donor Day is “Give Blood and Keep the World Beating.” This message highlights the invaluable contribution of blood donors in saving lives and enhancing health. It reinforces the global appeal for people everywhere to donate blood regularly. This year’s campaign particularly emphasizes the role of young people in ensuring a safe blood supply.
